Specialist commissioning and individualised care packages

Specialist commissioning: a psychology-led multidisciplinary team for complex cases

Individualised care packages for commissioners with a complex case and no suitable local provision. We provide psychology, occupational therapy and creative therapies, with as much or as little input as the case needs, and no waiting lists.

Individualised care packages: psychology, occupational therapy and creative therapies that come to the person

People with complex or overlapping needs, such as mental health difficulties alongside a learning disability, or alongside an offending history, are not always able to access specialist psychological assessment, treatment or other therapies through the NHS, because of long waiting lists or exclusion criteria. Community teams are not always able to take on people considered high risk either. That is the gap we fill.

We offer a full-service therapeutic multidisciplinary team, with as much or as little input as is required. That can include specialist therapies, such as forensic therapies to reduce risk, or trauma therapy.

We can provide a psychologist, an occupational therapist and a creative therapist, such as an art or drama therapist, who can:

  • Attend MDT meetings and care planning reviews
  • Carry out assessments, including detailed assessments of risk and capacity
  • Create treatment plans
  • Deliver therapy
  • Visit placements
  • Work jointly with the existing team around the person

When it works well, our clinician becomes another consistent, reliable member of the team around the person, chosen by them and their team.

Packages are cost-effective because senior psychologists design and oversee the work while assistant psychologists deliver structured day-to-day sessions under close supervision. Intensive support stays within the agreed budget.

How commissioning a package works

  1. Get in touch

By form or email, with an outline of the need. There is no need to share identifying details at this stage.

  2. An informal call

We talk through the person’s needs, the existing team and what input would help.

  3. A proposal

We set out who would be involved, what they would do and how often.

  4. The work begins

With no waiting list, our clinicians join the team around the person.

Who we work with

Integrated care boards, local authorities, case managers and other commissioners arranging care for someone whose needs sit outside standard provision, typically on a spot purchase basis. We often work with people whose needs intersect and overlap, such as a learning disability, autism, a personality disorder and a forensic history.

Standards commissioners can rely on

Every clinician holds current HCPC or GMC registration, professional indemnity insurance and a DBS check. Every clinician is individually registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office and handles data in line with UK GDPR.
